An innovative fabric with substantial market potential and rising global demand is bamboo
fabric, which is antimicrobial and environmentally friendly. The benefits of bamboo goods are
becoming more and more apparent to Indian businesses. Bamboo used efficiently in the
production of clothing and home furnishings. The textile process requires both physical and
sensory assessment. The fabric hand represents the entire sensation felt while handling a fabric
with the fingertips. The sensation analysis technique utilizes only a human hand as the
instrument to measure the sensation felt while touching a material with the hand. The purpose
of this study is to sensory evaluation of eco- friendly bamboo fabrics for home furnishings. The
different bamboo fabrics were used to evaluate for constructing different household
furnishings, the fabrics such as bamboo woven, bamboo cotton, bamboo cotton lycra and
bamboo jute were used for this study. The study evaluate various parameters of fabrics
including, fabric texture, tactile feeling, lustre, weight of the fabric, moisture absorption, fabric
strength, colour applicability, clarity of surface enrichment in fabrics were evaluated among
forty evaluators including Consumers, Interior Designers, Academics, and Shop Owners. The
percentage analysis and chi- square test were used to find the fabrics suitability for home
furnishings. The study findings concluded that 92.5 % of evaluators mentioned that bamboo
woven fabric soft and the majority of respondents rated all the selected fabrics for being semi
– glossy. The strength of all the selected fabrics was rated as either very good or good. |
