dc.description.abstract Furnishings are needed by people as an essential element both interior and exterior spaces. They help to sustain activities in a more comfortable way. Furnishings are the elements of interior places that add up the aesthetic and satisfying atmosphere. Furnishings are not recently in trend they come from ancient time. Home furnishings offers a spectacular range of bedspreads, furnishing fabrics, curtains rugs carpet cushion covers, table linen, bed linen etc. Furnishings are made by both handloom and power loom. Handlooms are traditional and made by natural fibers. The strength of handloom product lies in innovative design, flexibility and versatility. Therefore the people prefer the handloom furnishings to décor the interior places. The usage of furnishings is differ according to the interior place and space availability. The handloom furnishings are unique and environmental friendly products. They provide health benefits to the users. This paper highlights the health and environmental benefits of handloom furnishings and focused on increasing the usage of handloom furnishings in the decoration to create the sustainable environment. This paper concludes with some suggestions to improve the handloom productivity and marketing. en_US
