Abstract: The plant Abutilon indicum is belongs to malvaceae family ever green semi shrubby perennial. Leaves, root, flower, bark, seeds of the plant use in Siddha Medicine. The aim of this study is to identify the pharmacological activities and medicinal uses of Abutilon indicum. The research was carried out from October 2017 to December 2017. Based on Siddha pharmaco dynamic Abutilon indicum Sweet in taste, Cold in potency, sweet in Post digestive stage. According to the Siddha quotations A. indicum Lused to moolam, katti, pun, mulaigal,pulupaddapun, perunoi, utsoodu, irumal, raththavanthi, toothache and tendercum. The pharmacological actions such as laxative, demulcent, tonic, diuretic and sedative have been mentioned in murugesamuthaliyar. On the report of the authentic Siddha text, research articles, scientific journals and electronic media, Extract of A. indicum L has Diuretic, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, analgesic, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti -proliferative, wound healing, immune modulatory, hepato protective activities. It has been scientifically proven. Although the review highlights the overview of pharmacological activities and medicinal uses of A. indicum, which can be provided useful informative supports for Siddha doctors in therapeutic aspect for further extensive. Scientific studies should be carried out in future.
