Authors: Ketheeswaren, S.
Issue Date: 2008
Publisher: Bishop Heber College.
Abstract: The information environment within which libraries find themselves is changing, probably faster than ever before. These changes offer great opportunities for progressive libraries to reach out far beyond the boundaries of their buildings, and to engage with an increasingly literate body of information consumers within the buildings and at remote locations. In this, present remote access techniques (web techniques) play major role and significance on the concept of Library 2.0 (Lib 2.0) This article posits a descriptive formula for "Lib 2.0". It explains the recent thinking of Lib as "Lib 2.0" and especially covers Lib 2.0 services such as Synchronous Messaging, Blogs, Wikis, Tagging, Multimedia Sharing, Social Networks & Book-Marketing, and RSS Feed, which make the radical trust on Lib 2.0 among literate body of information and patrons.
