The use of information system (IS) gains better assist for decision-making activities based on its operations. As well as it improves the effectiveness and efficiency in an organization by adding additional quality. A portal system is one of the advanced development of IS. Its main popular concepts are web-based and centralized technology. A centralized web-based portal system (CWPS) will overcome many of the issues of the organization. Although there are much more CWPSs in education institutes, a lack of awareness of alternative ways for information and process duplication are major unavoidable problems. Therefore, improper document management practices and interoperability problems have been identified as prevailing problems. Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka was used as a case site in this study. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to develop a CWPS based on the accepted software model. Further, this study was tried to identify whether the proposed system will be suited to the case site. The design science method and design science process used as the research approach. It includes problem identification, the suggestions for the current situation of the system, the system development, and the system evaluation. After developing the system, it was tested the suitability of the system with the case site. For that data was collected from the staff of the faculty using structured questionnaires. Regression technique was used to analyze the collected data. The findings suggest that the proposed system was suitable for the case site with minor changes.en_US
