Theology Alternative Perspectives of Life

Abstract

Search for life assuring alternative perspective in reality (Socio, Political, economical, religious, cultural machinery…) with responsibility is the crux of this paper. This paper is in the line with the conference theme, Towards a New Christian Humanistic Ethos’ and emphasizing the search for alternative perspectives of life. The need of culture of human values is essential which goes beyond religion, individualism, caste consciousness, patriarchy, racism, party politics authoritarianism, consumerism, capitalism etc. Dialectic Methodology used along with hermeneutic of suspicion which is emphasized this paper to make sure the ‘praxis’ oriented contextual interaction prevails in the search for alternatives. In the praxis perspective we witness that theology is understood as a ‘God- Human Walk’ rather than a ‘Study about God’. ‘Longing and struggle for liberation’ which is very much rooted in the human consciousness of those with balance personalities (Fraud’s psychology). A Soul level awakening towards this reality is essential for existence. Understanding of God beyond Particularism is important. God is the God of Liberation to all. In our Asian reality there is a need to understand God beyond a religion. Inter Religious Interactions and Inter textual Hermeneutics are very essential to experience God in the life assuring spirit. Fr. Grzecorz Wita articulates, a ‘Theology of Harmony’. Emphasising that harmony will be possible through joining together as Asian Religions and becoming defenders of human values. Fr, Aloysius Peiris highlighted the Asian’s situation where poverty and religiosity gives life assuring meaning through the baptism in Asian religiosity and poverty (Church in Asia has to renounce its dominant image and identify with Asian cultures and the suffering of the Asian peoples). Good news of the other religions is very essential to understand God in Asia in the light of Fr. Peiris’s views. Asianize Christianity goes more with the Basic Human Communities which engage in life assuring processes beyond exclusivist attitudes.
