Title: Assessment of Aahper Youth Fitness Norm: Sri Lankan (North Province) Adolescents Boys
Authors: Ketheeswaran, K.; Gopinath, V.
Abstract: The aim of the study was to compare and evaluate the AAPHER youth fitness test among north province adolescent boys in Sri Lanka. To achieve the purpose (N=800) adolescent boys from age of 14 years (n=400) and 15 years (n=400) were randomly selected as subjects from north province, Sri Lanka AAPHER (50 yards – speed, Standing broad jump – explosive power, 1.5 miles run – endurance, situps – abdominal strength, shuttle run – agility and pullups-arm strength) youth fitness test were selected as criterian, variable tested, the data were converted into AAPHER youth fitness norms. The result of AAPHER youth fitness existing norms shows that, 14 and 15 years boys of north province were mostly below the 50th percentile in all the fitness qualities. From the result it was concluded that the adolescent boys of north province (Sri Lanka) were having poor physical fitness. The pupil scored below 50 decileson the selected fitness variable in their respective age group should be encouraged to improve their fitness level. National level special fitness programme will be designed and implemented to the poor fitness students. Further national level common fitness norms may be constructed and standardized for fitness assessment.

Title: Comparison of kinesthetic sense among yoga sports and normal
Authors: Ketheeswaran, K.; Gopinath, V.
Abstract: Yoga is the science of right living and as such is intended to be
incorporated in daily life, it works on all aspects of the person: the physical, vital,
mental, emotional, phychic and spiritual. Kinesthetic is deals with the sense of

tendons. The Efficient kinesthesis is essential to the skillful performance of definite
manual work and also success in sports and yoga practice. Kinesthetic awareness is
a major means of learning. The presence of kinesthetic sense has often been
considered as one of the factors contributing to the ability of an individual learns an
activity or a skill. For the purpose 30 subjects were selected, group - I (n=10) Yoga
Department, group – II (n=10) Physical Education and group – III (n=10) normal
students from Annamalai University and their age ranged between 18 – 24 years.
They were tested on selected kinesthetic variables (distance perception jump and
shuffle board distance perception).
The data was analysed by ANOVA and scheffes post hoc test. In the all the cases
0.05 level of confidence was fixed to test the significance. The results of the study
shows that yoga students better than other two groups.
